Dr. Dennis Ruff received his Doctor of Medicine in 1982 from Albany Medical College Union University, Albany, NY. After training in internal medicine he joined Healthcare Discoveries, formerly South Texas Clinical trials, in 1988 as Medical Director, President and Investigator. Since 1989, he has served as a Clinical Professor in the Dept. of Medicine at UTHSC San Antonio, TX. Dr. Ruff has acted as Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator for over 350 studies. A seasoned investigator and an expert manager, Dr. Ruff ensures swift and safe clinical operations. Dr. Ruff has 16 years experience in research EMANUEL DENOIA, MD Associate Medical Director Dr. Emanuel DeNoia received his Doctor of Medicine in 1975 from the College of Medicine of New Jersey. After training in internal medicine and medical residency at Monmouth Medical Center, he opened his practice in Internal Medicine and served on numerous boards and committees, including a term as the Chairmen of the Department of Medicine at Humana Hospital San Antonio. He joined Healthcare Discoveries in 1995 as a Clinical Investigator. After 33 years of practice, he joined Healthcare Discoveries full time in 2005. Dr. DeNoia has acted as Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator for over 100 studies. GEORGE J. ATIEE, MD Associate Medical Director Dr. George J. Atiee received his Doctor of Medicine in 1985 from University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, TX. He completed his residency in Family Practice at Baylor College of Medicine where he was selected as Chief Resident. He served three years in the military at the Primary Care Clinic Randolph Air Base, TX. He was a founding member of the largest primary care group in San Antonio. He first became involved in clinical research in 1996 with Sun Research Institute, TX, followed by his own research company, GSA Research. He closed his clinical practice after 17 years and joined Healthcare Discoveries in 2005 as Clinical Investigator. Dr Atiee has acted as Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator for over 85 studies LAWRENE TARDO Director of Operations Lawrene Tardo has over 15 years’ experience in clinical research with 4 years in Project Management. Lawrene has experience with the US regulatory and ethical approval systems and has worked with a variety of international clients and projects ranging from Phase I first in man to bioequivalence studies through to Phase IV studies. JEANNE COOK Director of Administration and Facilities Mrs. Cook joined Healthcare Discoveries, Inc. as the Administrator in 1999. From 2000 to February 2006 she served in the role as Director of Operations for the Phase I unit in San Antonio, TX assisting in its growth from a 40 to 120 bed facility. She currently serves as Director of Administration and Facilities and has a broad range of experience, having, over the years, worked with Clinical Daily operations, Human Resources, Recruitment, and Financial aspects of the company. PATRICIA PRINCE QA Director Patricia J Prince brings over 10 years clinical research experience in the pharmaceutical (Phase I-IV) and medical device industries with experience in protocol writing, project management, CRA management, EDC database development, CRF design and monitoring. Prior to joinning ICON Development Solutions she has held quality management responsibilities in the medical device and pharmaceutical industries. Patricia holds a Bachelors in Biology , Masters of Arts in Administration with a concentration in Organization Development and is currently pursing a Doctorate in Human and Organization Development. She has taken post-master’s coursework in Clinical Research Management at Duke University School of Nursing and holds certifications as a Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP), Certified Clinical Research Associate (CCRA) and Certified Corporate Trainer (CCT). Patricia is a member of the American Society of Quality, Society of Quality Assurance, Society of Clinical Research Associates and Association of Clinical Research Professionals CRAIG HOWARD Senior Director of Commercial Affairs Joined ICON Development Solutions (IDS) in May 2008 as Senior Director of Commercial Affairs where he is responsible for all commercial activities of the San Antonio facility. Prior to joining IDS, spent 4 years as Corporate Controller for the San Antonio Spurs, Silver Stars, Rampage and Austin Toros sports franchises. Prior to the Spurs, spent 10 years in financial management positions in the banking, mutual fund and brokerage industries, and spent 6 years in public accounting. Received a BBA in Accounting from Southwest Texas State University, earned an MBA from The University of The Incarnate Word, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Project Managers and CliniciansICON Development Solutions has a great staff. Our staff consists of medical professionals who are also experienced in clinical research.
